Position: AmeriCorps Member, Development Coordinator
Reports To: Associate Director of Programs and Services

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help create, organize, and facilitate fundraising events for The Underground Café
  • Research capacity-building grants and draft grant proposals
  • Assist staff in strengthening strategic community partnerships
  • Develop structures and opportunities for individuals to contribute to The Underground Café

Position: AmeriCorps Member, Publicity and Partnerships Coordinator
Reports To: Associate Director of Programs and Services

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create publicity tools to increase awareness of The Underground Café program in the local and regional area
  • Develop a teen publicity board to manage the creation and distribution of publicity materials
  • Establish new partnerships with local and regional businesses and governmental bodies

Necessary Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Self-motivated, creative problem solving
  • Multi-tasking, prioritizing and organizing
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills
  • Understanding of local and global social justice issues

AmeriCorps*VISTA Members serve full-time for one year with varying work hours and receive a modest living allowance, health insurance, an education award of $4,725, relocation expenses, and travel reimbursements. Utica Safe Schools provides skills training, opportunities to build your resumé and work portfolio, career counseling at the end of your service, and a staff mentor throughout the year to provide support and guidance.
